Common Council – Serving the Square Mile

I was first elected to the Court of Common Council as Common Councillor for Walbrook in 2013 and re-elected again in 2017, 2022 and in 2025, now in my fourth term of office.

I serve on a number of committees within the City of London including:

• Court of Common Council
  • The main governing body of the City of London Corporation
• Policy & Resources Committee – Deputy Chair
  • The principal committee of Common Council with oversight of policy and resource allocation. I sit on two of its key sub-committees:
    • Resource Allocation Sub-Committee
    • Communications & Corporate Affairs Sub-Committee
    • Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Committee
    • Freedom Applications Sub-Committee
• Finance Committee
  • Oversight of the City of London’s finances
• Investment Committee
  • Oversight of the City’s significant financial and property investments
• Capital Buildings Board
  • Oversight of the delivery of the new Courts on Fleet Street and City Police Accommodation, a £600m programme
• City of London Police Authority Board – Immediate Past Chair (Chair 2020 to 2024)
  • Oversight as police authority for the City of London Police. I also sit on all four of the committee’s of the Police Authority Board:
    • Economic Crime and Cyber Board – Chair
    • Resource, Risk and Estates Committee
• Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting and Analysis Procurement Committee
  • Oversight responsibility for the City of London for the replacement of Action Fraud, a £150 programme, in collaboration with the Home Office
• Community & Children’s Service Committee
  • Housing Management Sub-Committee
• City Bridge Foundation
  • CBF is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the five City bridges and is the sixth largest charity in the UK and London’s largest charitable grant giving body.
    • I also sit on its grant giving committee, the Funding Committee
• Board of Governors of the City of London School – Immediate past Chairman

I previously served on:

• Housing Delivery Programme Working Group – Immediate Past Chairman
• Planning & Transport 2013 to 2017
• Port Health & Environmental Services Committee 2013 to 2016
